Cannabis has developed a reputation in recent years as something of a wonder plant. But some companies have tried to capitalize on this and sell products that don’t do what they want you to think they do.

Maybe you’ve run into this confusion yourself in looking for the right supplement, and the question of CBD vs. hemp oil cropped up.

This question is a common one, but luckily, it’s also easily answered. Not all hemp-derived oil is the same. Once you understand why, it’s so much easier to find cannabis-based products that work for you.

CBD vs. Hemp Oil and Why It Matters

You might be surprised to find out that CBD and hemp oil have very little in common aside from their parent plant. While cannabis and hemp are both varieties of Cannabis sativa, that’s about where the similarities end. CBD oil is derived from the stalks, leaves, and flowers of the plant, and hemp oil comes from its hemp seeds.

Sounds like a minor detail, right? But it implies a lot more. The hemp extract that comes from the seeds of the hemp plant contain zero tetrahydrocannabinol (or THC).

On the other hand, THC is the main ingredient in CBD oil. That’s because the surface of the cannabis plant is covered in trichomes, all of which produce THC and other chemicals to protect the plant. In turn, that’s the psychoactive part of CBD that most people are looking for.

Why Do They Get Mixed Up?

If these two substances are so different, why is it so easy to get hemp seed oil confused with CBD oil drops?

A big part of the confusion is marketing. Even though hemp oil has its own qualities and creative uses to speak of, many companies want to jump on the recent wave of interest in CBD oil and related products. So it’s easy for them to charge a little bit more and make it seem like their products fit that bill when they have no THC whatsoever.

So, that means one easy way to figure out the difference is to carefully read the labels. You’ll see that hemp oil will have the words “cannabis sativa seed oil” in its ingredients list. On the other hand, CBD will usually have listed one or several of the following: cannabidiol, hemp oil, full-spectrum hemp, and PCR (phytocannabinoid-rich) or PCR hemp extracts.

Nature’s Bloom: Full-Spectrum CBD Oil

CBD vs. hemp oil concerns aside, one more thing you want to look for in your CBD oil is whether it’s full-spectrum. That phrase means it contains all of the cannabinoids that are naturally found in the cannabis plant, not just cannabidiol (CBD) itself.

Nature’s Bloom is all about infusing our products with that full-spectrum and providing you with CBD oil that actually works. Feel free to see for yourself: check out our line of products, including oils, topicals, gummies, and gel caps.
